Finally available again to mark the occasion of ASP's 15 year anniversary:

The long past due, and from fans most longed for vinyl edition of the classic ASP album 'Zauberbruder – Der Krabat-Liederzyklus', with four bonus tracks from the deleted 'Von Zaubererbrüdern Live' CD.

'Krabat': those who are familiar with Ottfried Preußler's novel about black magic in the fight against innocent love will shudder pleasantly. The author once called 'Krabat' the story of a generation and thus stresses the ongoing relevance of its topic, which can be seen as a parallel to the seduction of young people by a corrupt system. 'Zauberbruder – Der Krabat-Liederzyklus' is inspired by that very Sorbian legend that achieved worldwide fame thanks to Preußler's novel. In their own unmistakable way, they elicited exciting new facets out of this ur-legend, yet bow humbly before Preußler's work. In doing so, they were able to erect another memorial to the great German author of books for young people during his lifetime, before he died in 2013.

Although it has since risen to classic status, the musical tale of 'Zauberbruder' was intended as a kind of in-between album to follow the two great previously released 'gothic novel works', 'Schwarzer Schmetterling' and 'Fremder'. However, it turned out to be an enormous success, and for many fans, it is THE gateway drug into the world of ASP.

'Zauberbruder', however, is more than just a bridge to the next narrative concept. Everything that had made the band distinctive within the preceding years is distilled on this one album. ASP's unmistakable gothic novel rock is presented as a total work of art: music, lyrics and images all carry equal weight. Regarding their lyrics, ASP have long proved to be the 'crème de la crème' of the German language music scene. This album is no exception: Asp demonstrates his skill as a lyricist of technical precision who has great narrative powers.

The booklet included with this vinyl re-release also contains the breathtaking artwork by Meran, who is renowned for his work with SIX FEET UNDER, LEAVES' EYES and LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE. His bleak monochrome arrangements complement Alexander 'Asp' Spreng's storytelling in a nigh-on classic manner, bringing to mind the classic early silent films.

Musically, they have extended their range as appropriate to the subject: alongside the expected driving gothic rock, you will also find intensified medieval elements and folky, atmospheric passages. They fuse with the artwork, leading the way to an unforgettable journey into the world of 'Krabat'.

'Zauberbruder – Der Krabat-Liederzyklus' is a fascinating expedition to the borders of a sombre world and a revelation for aficionados of thrilling German rock music! The spell cast by this album is unbroken!
