THE SKINFLICKS released their final album in the fall of 2002, before taking a hiatus of about 20 years and now, just in time for what is to be their 25th band anniversary, the band have decided to mark the occasion by releasing a completely new album! Yes, all new songs and all new recorded!
They say “you cannot teach an old dog a new trick” and that has become the motto of this third full-length album of the band. Indeed, this masterpiece of classic Oi music shows THE SKINFLICKS still know how to write uncompromising, hard-hitting songs in their beloved brand of street-punk. This hard-hitting album has “old school” written all over it! With lyrics that overflow with sarcasm, dark humour, but also an undeniable wit, as well as their well-know tongue-in-cheek style, “Old Dogs, New Tricks” will undeniably shape the sound of Oi to come.
And, by saying “old-school” and “uncompromising”, that does not to imply that their ideas have been left in the past, to coincide with their classic brick-wall Oi! sound. Nothing could be further from the truth, as they show an almost eerie tendency to remain relevant and deliver a bitter commentary to socially important themes. THE SKINFLICKS still do not give a shit!
The band proves they are not one bit rusty, and, just like the proverbial dogs referred to in the title, they came back to do what they do best, what they always did and which always put them decidedly above the rest of the bunch.
